About the Annual Town Meeting

Vermont is the only state which allows its citizens direct participation in the governing of their town. About 40 towns participate in this process. Town Meeting Day is a State Holiday and occurs annually on the first Tuesday in March.

Citizens of the Town of Roxbury VT meet each year to decide on various items pertaining to the running of the Town, and elects its town officials. Roxbury uses two voting methods: floor vote and Australian Ballot.

Reports by Town Officers, approval of monies necessary for town maintenance, taxes, and election of Town Officers and Montpelier-Roxbury School District offices are some of the items discussed and voted on. Non-residents cannot participate in Town Meetings.

Roxbury’s Town Meeting will be held in the Town Hall, 1567 Roxbury Road, Roxbury VT, on Tuesday 3rd March, 2020.

Town Meeting is at the Roxbury Town Hall (Roxbury Village School).  Polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

2020 Town Meeting

Get Prepared

Deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 2nd. 2020,  for both the Annual Town Meeting and the Presidential Primary.

Town Meeting is on March 3rd.
Presidential Primary is March 3rd.

Town Meeting is at the Roxbury Town Hall (Roxbury Village School).  Polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Deadline to submit petitions to be on Town Meeting ballot for office is January 27, 2020.  Signature required – 1% of legal voters of Roxbury (7).

Deadline to submit petitions to be on Town Meeting Warning , to be voted on at Town Meeting is January 16, 2020.  Signatures required – 5% of legal voters of Roxbury (27).
